How to Apply for a South African Study Visa

Are you considering applying for a study visa? This section outlines the key requirements and how we can assist you.

South African study visas are granted to foreigners intending to study in South Africa for more than three months at institutions approved by the Department of Home Affairs. These institutions can include primary, tertiary, and higher education establishments. Depending on the institution, study visas can be issued for up to 8 years. Recent immigration amendments have refined the definition of a learning institution, so it’s crucial to confirm that your chosen school meets the required criteria.

Please note that South African study visas do not permit the holder to work, as per the Immigration Act. If employment is desired, a separate work visa is required. However, students at higher education institutions may be authorized to work part-time for up to twenty hours per week with appropriate authorization.

Additionally, work may be permitted for students who need to complete practical training as part of their academic program.
