How To Apply for a South African Business Visa
A South African business visa can be granted to a foreigner who plans to establish or invest in a business in South Africa. The applicant must invest a minimum of R5 million from abroad, which an accountant must certify to remain part of the business’s underlying book value.
The Department of Home Affairs in South Africa requires assurance that the business is legitimate, including business plans and registrations with SARS and other relevant authorities. Additionally, the business must commit to employing at least 60% South African citizens or permanent residents as part of the business visa application process.
In specific industries deemed crucial to local enterprise and development, such as information technology, tourism, clothing and textiles, and other sectors approved by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Director-General may waive or reduce the required investment amount for a South African business visa.
